Welcome to My Website!

My goals for this web site are to:

1.  Aid in changing how medicine and psychiatry and psychology (and the other human service professions) are practiced around the world -- to make them more responsive to human needs, more caring and compassionate, less hierarchical, more respectful of successful outcomes even when not "evidence based", more culturally sensitive, more inclusive of the world's traditional cultural healers, and more fun to work within.

2.  Create opportunities for collaboration among researchers, clinicians, healers, to further our understanding of how people come to suffer less and to feel well (including experiencing cures from all manner of illnesses).  See "My Projects" page for the various collaborations I am trying to foster.  I believe we need collaborative networks similar to those that the pharmaceutical industry has built for drug research.  Established government funders are not going to do this for us.  We must do it ourselves.  We must build the same capacity as collaborative drug research networks in which 800 people can be enrolled from 59 academic centers.  And in doing this, we can support other methodologies that are relevant to healing, including intuitive inquirty, other relexive methodologies, narrative methods, and more.  Come help us build capacity if this interests you.

3.  Create "Cyber-Communities" for education, discussion, supervision, support, and research.  See "My Projects" for details.  I am especially interested in dialogue about traditional healing, narrative philosophy and medicine, and integrative psychiatry.

4.  Provide the necessary material for people and groups who are planning a workshop or event with me, including sample programs, sample objectives and continuing education questions, biography, CV, etc.

5.  Provide copies of papers I have written (within the limits imposed by the journals in which they are published) and links to other people's papers and writings whom I respect and admire.

6.  Provide photographs for anyone to download to use to publicize events and or for publications.

7.  Provide information on training opportunities with me.

8.  Provide information for people contemplating or wishing to schedule a healing retreat.

9.  Link easily to the other organizations and schools with which I am involved, especially the APA CAM Caucus (see www.apacam.org).

Let me know what else you'd like to see on this site as I slowly build it and I will endeavor to make it appear.
